CSCT 2014 NOCP Revalidation

   CSCT NOCP 2014 Revalidation Introduction

Please have a copy of the 2007 NOCP accessible while completing this survey. A copy can be obtained at www.csct.ca

The CSCT National Occupational Competency Profile (NOCP) lists the entry to practice competencies that are required of a cardiology technologist. The NOCP was revised in 2007 with the purpose of both simplifying it and adding new general competencies to entry to practice.

This revised NOCP became the basis of the CSCT certification exam blueprint in September 2009.

As per the Guiding Principles for National Competency Profiles as per the CMA Conjoint Accreditation Services “A profession should also have some mechanism to review and update its national competency profile regularly, e.g., every 5 years, to ensure its relevance to current practice and its credibility among stakeholders.” CSCT has adopted a seven (7) year cycle for revisions. Any changes made to the 2007 NOCP will take effect in 2014.

It is critical that the National Occupational Competency Profile (NOCP) be kept up to date as it must reflect the work done by Cardiology Technologists in the field today, and introduce competencies that will become important in the future.

This survey is designed to enable registered cardiology technologists, members of industry and post secondary cardiology technology programs to provide feedback on the 2007 (NOCP) and suggest any changes.

Each question is directly related to each competency statement in the 2007 NOCP which can be found at www.csct.ca

   The NOCP comprises:
   1. Competency Areas e.g. Cardiac Procedures,
   2. General Competencies e.g. 1.1 Record and analyse electrocardiograms and
   3. Competency Statements eg 1.1a select electrode sites for 12 lead ECG

   Survey Structure:
There are two questions associated with every competency statement in the NOCP
#1: If you think there should be a change in the wording of the competency statement - select “change”
If you think that particular competency statement should be deleted – select “delete”
If you think that no change is necessary, select “no change”

#2. Each competency statement also has a performance environment associated with it - academic, simulated and clinical which represents the minimum level that needs to be taught in a post secondary cardiology technology program.
If you think the current performance environments are applicable, select “no change”
If you think the current performance environments should be changed e.g. from academic to simulated, select “change” and explain your reasoning in the space provided.

At the end of each section there is a feedback opportunity which provides you with the opportunity to ADD A NEW COMPETENCY STATEMENT.
